URBAN TALK RADIO WHERE BOLDMINDS SPEAK

Urban Talk Radio is weekly talk radio show that will air Wednesdays 10:00AM to 11:00AM EDT.

 

 

The weekly show format will include “Sass Talkin with Salwa” an interactive 15 minute show segment focused on issues that are relevant to young people. “Sass Talkin with Salwa” is dedicated to exploring, discussing and cultivating creative teens into Boldminds.

 

 

On the first Wednesday of each month, the remaining 45 minute portion of the Urban Talk Radio will feature a segment called “Urban Legends” that will showcase the life works of extraordinary people in New Haven County who have contributed to improving life in New Haven.

Our first guest on Urban Legends was Actor Ray Hassett played Echo Base Senior Logistics Officer Tigran Jamiro in “Star Wars The Empire Strikes Back,” where he famously warned Captain Han Solo (Harrison Ford) it was a suicide mission to jump on a tauntaun and go try to save Commander Luke Skywalker (Mark Hamill) on the ice planet Hoth.

Now, a retired Lieutenant who formerly served as a District Commander. He became known for his problem solving strategies.

On the second and third Wednesday of each month, the remaining 45 minute portion of the Urban Talk Radio will focus on current events and interactive making it plain community discussion on those hot topics.

Finally on the last Wednesday of each month, the remaining 45 minute portion of the Urban Talk Radio will feature a segment called “Cops and Coffee” which may prove to be one of the most unique radio show segments in the country. On one side there’s a Cop, on the other side is a cup of Coffee and they are separated by a “grey area.” “Cops and Coffee” is bold and hot! It is an interactive show that brings Community Stakeholders literally to the table to intimately discuss the coherent purpose in modern-day policing and current affairs.

Thus, Urban Talk Radio begins on WNHH-LP 103.5 FM which uniquely combines community radio with the local online news site New Haven Independent to create a new model for audience engagement and local news sustainability. This innovative local NPR-style radio station launched on August 11, 2015.

The station, WNHH-LP 103.5 FM, will be incorporated into the New Haven Independent (newhavenindependent.org), one of the earliest and longest-surviving online-only local daily news websites in the nation. The station will air in New Haven and Hamden, Conn., broadcasting at 103.5 FM for 12 hours each weekday. Listeners will have four avenues to listen. Shows will be LIVE on 103.5 FM Radio in addition to web-streamed LIVE on newhavenindependent.org. Daily programs will also be converted to podcasts and become part of regular news and cultural articles on the Independent website; and they will be available for download from multiple web locations including the Apple iTunes store and SoundCloud.

All shows will be created and produced by Boldminds LLC and multi-media arts and publishing company which was founded in 1989 by Shafiq Abdussabur.
